21 June 13

After work I bought a new dress and some photo boxes to organize my film prints, and had a quick dinner visiting Jeff at work (where I saw this adorable puppy). Then I spent the rest of the evening sorting and labelling all my film and it was just great.

12 February 13

bunny love
We left Ucluelet in the morning, and our first stop was in Parksville at Little Qualicum Cheeseworks (an organic meat & cheese farm and fruit winery), where I got to hang out with these bunnies! Later we ventured out of our way to see the Kinsol Trestle Bridge, the longest wooden trestle in the Commonwealth. It was a little underwhelming but still pretty cool, and there was a nice little trail leading up to it from the road. Unfortunately all my photos from there (except my 365) are on film which is still unfinished in my camera, so I have nothing more to share.
After checking into our hotel in Victoria, we went to 5th Street Grill, a really tasty pizza joint, to drink beer and eat food and watch the game.

30 August 12

three in a row
We spent the day sweating our asses off and looking at beautiful animals at Animal Kingdom. We also got to ride the dinosaur ride twice in a row without even having to go through the lineup again! And everyone made stupid faces on the Everest roller coaster, you know, the usual. Afterwards we gorged ourselves at the buffet at Boma, where I could have easily made a meal of just soups and salads.
A whole bunch more photos from this day are here.

23 June 12

library pigeons
I went to the library (with a pit stop at La Taqueria) and when I left home the sun was shining... when I left the library, it was POURING.

07 April 12

lion statue
I went to meet a friend from out of town for beers at the Alibi Room. He let me know he was going to be late, so I took spent a bit of time in Portside Park taking photos. He couldn't stay long, so afterwards I met up with Steph and we had more beer and some food at the Mill where we watched the game and visited with Jeff a little while he worked.
A few more photos from this day here.

18 March 12

clownfish
Aaron wanted to celebrate the last weekend of his twenties by dropping acid and going to the aquarium. Unfortunately I missed out, and Aaron's turned out a dud, but Dennis was high as several kites. I didn't take as many photos of the sea creatures as I would have liked because I was a little preoccupied with making sure he wasn't going to freak out and run off into the wilderness. But it was still a nice time on a lovely spring day, and I got to see Aaron's cool new (old) apartment.
A couple more photos can be found here.

20 February 12

elephant teapot
I had a mad craving for Thai curry, so Jeff and I went up to Thai Cafe in the Heights for dinner. I also ordered a jasmine tea and it came in this delightful elephant teapot! Then we picked up a roll of slide film at London Drugs and came home and had more jasmine tea while we looked through them.

11 December 11

sparkle birds
While we were having breakfast, there were a bunch of birds using our garage roof gutter to take a bath. I was afraid I'd scare them away if I went out back, so I took these through the kitchen window which produced some interesting results.

wings in seaweed
This was actually taken the following day, but all the rest of the shots I took that day are portraits and it feels wrong to share them together.

19 May 11

resting
We went back to Newport in the morning to check out the sea lions. There were probably six or seven of them sleeping or swimming around the dock there... last time Jeff and I were there we saw easily a dozen. After that we drove up the coast to Devil's Punchbowl State Park, a truly amazing erosional landform. We hung around until we got cold, and then continued on to Portland. Jeff and I separated from my family at this point, since we had planned to stay at Sarah and Chase's. While we waited for them to come home, we had a beer at Hall of Records and then watched all the dogs in Laurelhurst Park. After hauling all our crap into the house, we got dinner at the food carts and then met up with my parents and Alice for drinks at Teardrop downtown.
A few more photos here.

18 March 11

We stayed at the trailer in Washington on Friday night to make easier the drive to Seattle on Saturday. The dogs were so excited to see Jeff that it took him almost ten minutes just to be able to get his coat off.

14 August 10

this feels like a sunscreen ad
I went to Spanish Banks with Tams, Val, and Sean, and Zoey (Sean and Val's dog). It is the only beach in Vancouver (I think) where you can have dogs off-leash, so it is basically awesome for anyone who likes the beach and also likes playing with puppies. Tamara and I both pretty much wanted to steal this lady's beautiful great Dane.

01 August 10

I made this necklace for my sister Alice's (belated) birthday. It's pretty easy, attaching the chain and whatnot, and I get kind of zoned in on what I'm doing and then I kind of want to make like 50. I just wish I could stop sending jumprings flying all over the floor when I try to re-close them.

12 July 10

Day 3: Animal Kingdom. I believe these skulls are from an okapi and a giraffe. It was so fucking hot humid this day that in the overcrowded park all set up to look like southeast Asia and India, I could imagine I was actually in Thailand or something.

10 July 10

Our first day at the parks; we went to Epcot. This was in an ocean-themed exhibit (obviously heavily influenced by Finding Nemo). I'll have a full set of photos from the trip up soon, so I'll post a link eventually.

Thai postage
I got stuff on Etsy shipped to me from Thailand. I greatly enjoyed this elephant stamp.
