wisp of smoke
I met up with Liz at Six Acres after work, and a guy beside us was sitting alone and overheard me trashing Newark while talking about my trip to NYC, and it turned out he was from Jersey (and grew up in Newark) — what are the odds? His name was Korey, and he was here for a job interview with the Aritzia design team. And because I'm posting this photo so long after the fact, I can say that he got the job and will be moving here very soon!

14 July 13

Ash
Mal hosted a clothes swap, though the only people who showed were ourselves, Ash, and Allie, so it was mostly just the two of us trading femme clothes and the two of them trading butch clothes. Afterwards we sat out in the yard for a bit, having nachos & beer and talking. Ash works as a landscaper, and in the photo above she is collecting lavender flowers off some excess plants she trimmed in someone's yard.

On the way home I was near Tamara's apartment, so I decided to see if she wanted to hang out. We sat in the park with her dog for a bit until some creepy dude decided to come sit down with us and then we went inside to escape. Later she walked with me down to Hastings to catch the bus and on the way I got delicious samosas & pakora from Deserts to eat for dinner while I watched Silver Linings Playbook, which was surprisingly impressive.

smokers
Jeff & I drove down over the border to hang out with his family at Justin & Deanna's. It was a really nice day, and we also ran into Tamara at Trader Joe's, which was pretty unexpected!

22 December 12

pale smoke
I was trying to photograph myself blowing smoke rings, but it didn't really show up too well and I just looked like I was making weird faces.

Amanda
Cookoff day! The theme was salad, and it was both better than the original salad-off because no one had any allergic reactions, and better than the previous two cookoffs because it had more than three competitors. It was a lovely evening, still felt a little like summer... at least until the sun went down.
As always, check out the cookoff blog to see the entries and who won!

17 June 12

electronic cigarette
I met up with Laryssa and we went to check out car-free day on the Drive. Ran into June and then we all parted ways after a bit. I got myself a library card (finally) and then went to visit Jeff at work for a little while.

14 April 12

April evening
Liang came by in the late afternoon; we picked up some wine and then rode our bikes over to have dinner at Laryssa & Amanda's. We ate a lot of curry, got stoned, sat on the roof. Rode home. My brother Travers turned 19... normally I would have brought him some celebratory beers, but he doesn't drink.

Vicky
I didn't take a picture on the 30th of June, so here are two from Canada Day. I got up early and made cookies for the bake sale/fundraiser/house show/party at The Mansion, and after dropping them off at Flatland I ran some errands with Jeff. Later Sarah had finished her cookies so we went to The Mansion together and stayed all afternoon and early evening chatting with friends and friendly strangers, drinking sangria, listening to the bands, eating baked goods, smoking joints. It was an utterly fabulous day, and the first where it truly felt like summer.

19 November 10

smoking out the kitchen window
Pia hosted a girls' night/sleepover at her apartment. Heather and Calan were also there. We played silly games and had a few drinks and realised how old we all are when we were ready for bed by 1:30, whereas as teenagers we had no problem staying up til three or four.
This is Heather having a cigarette out the kitchen window.

03 October 10

smoking on the balcony
I got up early and went to yoga, and then to brunch at Amanda's. Laryssa and Dan and Jeff D and a couple other people were there also. Brunch was mimosas, hash browns, and crepes filled with tempeh, spinach, fried mushrooms and onions, and fresh tomato. Afterwards I went downtown and bought ONLY the precise things I intended to buy - possibly a first for me. I met up with Jeff after his shift ended and we came home together to make dinner and watch Mad Men.

I am really making an effort to stay more up-to-date with this blog... not only does not posting make me unmotivated to take more photos because of all the catching up I have to do, but I sometimes find it difficult to recall what went on I take a photo and when I post it, and part of the point of this was to keep a better record of my day-to-day life.

18 June 10

smokers die younger
I made dinner and Steph came over. She and Jesse and I watched Fantastic Mr. Fox and drank gin and tonic until we ran out of tonic.

11 July 09

Once again, I failed at taking a photo. So you get two from this day.

We went to Jeff's family barbecue in Ferndale, WA. The backyard was really nice but I got mosquito bites like whoa.

This is Jeff's uncle Dave, who is an amazing scotch-drinking biker.
