27 August 09

I went out with MaryAnne after work and unfortunately left the camera at home. We wandered around the West End talking about relationships, work, and the future, as per usual. Also I was reminded of what the old $5 bills look like.

26 August 09

Nothing interesting happened. I did laundry and forgot to eat dinner. Maybe this is why I had a terrible nightmare later.

25 August 09

It was Jeff's and my 1-year anniversary. We decided to save money for our NYC trip, so instead of going out, he cooked this delicious dinner. With it we drank a bottle of cabernet sauvignon, bottled 2003.

24 August 09

29 bottles of wine
This is the wine Jeff, Jesse, Angela and I bought in the Okanagan, minus two bottles Ang kept with her. Jeff and I booked a flight to New York for September, so we celebrated by drinking some of the Stonehill port. (This photo was actually taken the night before. Too busy boozing to make photography.)

23 August 09

the steering column still works
This tractor was outside a winery called Sleeping Giant, which makes fruit wines. It is the same farm/vineyard that makes Summerland Sweets (syrups & jams of which I have fond childhood memories of).

22 August 09

floating balcony
We went on a wine tour in the Okanagan. This is at Burrowing Owl, just north of Osoyoos.

21 August 09

accurate portrayals
Spent the evening hanging out in Dennis and Aaron's kitchen (this is an accurate portrayal of the two of them) and then walked to a bar, walked to another bar, and then walked back. I had to take my Canon because Jeff had the Nikon, and basically this thing is ruined and makes me actually angry when I use it. It's like taking pictures underwater.

20 August 09

this train station is an ad-free zone
Just for kicks, I rode the Canada Line with Steph and Tams and Danielle. They hadn't gotten around to putting up ads in the stations and on the trains yet, which is kind of nice.

19 August 09

I forgot to take a photo on Tuesday because nothing awesome happened except I filled out my passport application. Luckily, that means you get to see TWO PHOTOS of the crumble I made out of side-of-the-road blackberries!

...that's how it works, right?

16 August 09

more haircut vanity
Jeff and I did tonnes of stuff, like randomly run into Chris/Steph/Matt/Shelby at the Slocan, pick up my passport photos, purchase bike helmets, RIDE BIKES around Burnaby trails, and drink beer and eat ribs on my parents' porch, but I didn't take photos of any of that. Instead you get haircut vanity.

15 August 09

tassles vs. assles
MaryAnne gets birthday burlesque butt greetings at her Dirty Thirty party.

14 August 09

Alice and Maddie and Steph and I made cupcakes, then got stoned and drew icing pictures. This worm looks so eager :D

13 August 09

summer storms
Passing storms - the kind in which the sky seems to empty its entire water content in the span of a couple of hours - have been frequent, lately. This was taken from Broadway station on my way to the Naam for dinner.

12 August 09

playgrounds are not for dead crows
After Malloreigh's birthday dinner at the Eatery, we were playing around and drinking Fireball at a nearby school where we found this dead crow :( We decided he shouldn't be on a playground, so we scooped him up and put him in a household trash can (the next day was garbage day so we didn't feel too bad). I hope no raccoons got him.

11 August 09

Cass came over and we played cards and ate gelato and talked about stuff.

10 August 09

On the drive home, it was pouring rain so we opted not to visit Hell's Gate, and instead stopped at this creepy Elvis-themed diner just south of there. This concludes our trip to the Cariboo.

09 August 09

We went to Barkerville on this day. It was surprisingly interesting and not nearly as cheesy as I expected.

08 August 09

So yeah, every photo from the past three days has included Jeff. I seriously debated between this one and this avant-garde one of the storm blowing the living room curtain in front of the piano, but the angles were bad because I had to be quick and also it is hard to tell from a photo what was going on. ANYWAY here is a photo of all the scotch that Tony has. It is a lot of scotch.

07 August 09

Didn't really take many photos today; we went for breakfast and then I read a book and played piano while Jeff hung out with his dad and the dogs for a bit. Then we had to go to Prince George, which was pretty much like I'd expected Prince George would be (in a word: balls).

06 August 09

We stopped to eat fruit and drink coffee in this little grove off trees off Highway 1 in the Fraser Canyon. I like the way the light is falling on him here.

bare mattress vanities

02 August 09

Met up with my sister, Felisha, and Cory at the post-Pride parade festival at English Bay. Felisha and Cory napped on the dead grass while Alice and I ate chips.
Later I went to Hershe at the Red Room/Century House and danced among all the queer ladies in the city, it seemed. so. much. sweat.

31 July 09

safety first
Sundown at Jericho Beach. We stayed up all night so this feels like it was a bajillion years ago, even though it was only around 9pm.
