31 May 10

boys' night out
I stayed home from work today. I think I have an ear infection because I woke up with a headache and my left ear keeps popping. I used the opportunity to join tumblr and take photos of myself in the yard during the 10 minutes there was sun outside.

30 May 10

I like when these things happen
I had to prove myself man enough for boys' night out, but in the end I was deemed worthy.

29 May 10

give my umbrella to the rain dogs
I went downtown to help MaryAnne not feel overwhelmed by her gift registry, and then we had sushi. It is still raining and being cold all the time which is kind of lame.

28 May 10

apartment lobby chairs
Went for beers at Stella's with Felisha and Joel and their friend Tyler. Later we went to their friend Pat's apartment for more beer. I was mildly creeped out by these chairs in the lobby.

27 May 10

Yoni Wolf, wearing a crowd member's hat
Yoni Wolf of Why? wearing a crowd member's hat at The Biltmore. Excellent concert; they played all my favourite songs. And I got to spend time with my sisters. And Jeff. And Mal and Kaylie were there too.

curtained
A window in the lunchroom at work, overlooking Cordova Street.

he looks strange to me without glasses
He looks so different to me without glasses.
This is in the parking lot of the Mountain Shadow Pub, where we had lunch with my parents.

23 May 10

hands; barges
Jeff and I took the long way home from sushi with his mom in North Van.
A few more from this day are here.

22 May 10

birthday cupcakes
I bought Jeff a birthday cupcake from Cupcakes, since in my travels I happened to be at the Lens & Shutter directly across the street. The front one is some kind of caramel/dulce de leche magic, and the green one is chocolate mint. Later we went to The Diamond for birthday dinner/drinks with Iain and Jesse, which was incredible, and we then moved onto beers at the Alibi Room and went home drunk in a taxi at 1:30 in the morning.
Here's the birthday boy and Jesse looking classy at The Diamond.

21 May 10

the fabric looks like... not fabric.
I went to H&M to see if I could find Jeff something for his birthday. It was super busy in there and made me anxious, and all the guys' clothes sucked. However I managed to somehow find a shirt and a necklace for me? Funny, that...

My photos have been bland and uninspired lately, much like most of my life.

20 May 10

abandoned spider home
Another day of hefting boxes, counting fishing lures, and trying not to rip out the new guy's tongue in order to get him to stfu for ten goddamn seconds.
This abandoned spider home was on my front stop when I sat out there after work.

19 May 10

this used to be a majestic eagle
Once upon a time, this crumbly mess of paper was a majestic eagle.

17 May 10

work pants
These are my work pants. When I am wearing pants that are not work pants, I forget and often wipe my hands/anything dusty or dirty on them. And then I'm like oh crap these are not the grunge pants.

16 May 10

Amanda in my kitchen
Amanda and Steph came over for dinner. Jeff made delicious pizza and I made sangria, and also red velvet cupcakes for dessert. And then suddenly it was 9pm and everyone was like "oh crap I have to work tomorrow". Stupid/awesome daylight savings time.

15 May 10

red socks
I spent the day wandering around various parts of Vancouver with Jesse, until it got cloudy and late and too cold for shorts.

14 May 10

lol wut
After work I headed to Main Street to spend $133 at Red Cat and then I wandered around and poked in some boutiques I couldn't afford, and picked up a bit of produce before heading home. I saw this sign on an empty lot at King Edward. Graffiti is fun!

13 May 10

waiting for the bus
Gastown.

12 May 10

street music
Random jazz band on Granville Street, on my way to catch the 16 to Dennis's house. We had beer and sandwiches at the pub and then watched some Justice League movie and a few episodes of Arrested Development.

11 May 10

I read the news today, oh boy
The news the day of game six. I wasn't really surprised, but you've gotta wonder what they're going to change this year in hopes of making a team that doesn't flail about like a fish out of water in round two.

09 May 10

you can't kill us that easily
I mean, don't get me wrong, I fully expect the Canucks to go down in the second round, 'cause that's how they roll. But they won't do it without a fight. See you at GM Place, Byfuglien.

08 May 10

sometimes lens flare is fun
I almost deleted this picture for being overexposed, but then I figured I could work with it and it turned out pretty interesting. This is a lovely, tree-lined and cobbled section of Bute Street.
I took a few others I liked, you can view them here.

07 May 10

daylight savings time
I like daylight savings time. Nice weather makes me so much more motivated to take pictures.

05 May 10

boooze
...is what probably every Canucks fan wanted after game three on Wednesday. And now I'm off to watch game four, which they will hopefully win out of sheer fury, if nothing else.

04 May 10

storm clouds
A storm passed through Vancouver while I was at work, but had dissipated by the time I headed home. I could see the clouds drifting south as I walked from the bus stop.

03 May 10

the mending of the bike
I had one of those nights where every time you are just about to drift off into sleep, your body jerks you awake. I think I finally passed out for real around 4am, and when I woke up I had a massive headache and was super stuffed up. I stayed home from work and Jeff made me breakfast, and I spent the afternoon mending clothes while he went for a bike ride with Ray. On his journeys he picked up some new gear cables for my bike and installed them so that maybe my chain will stop falling off when I go up hills. I guess that's what you get for riding free trash bike.

02 May 10

tiramisu with crême anglais
Jeff and I went for dinner at CinCin with my parents. DineOut Vancouver always makes you go to restaurants you can't really afford, thinking, 'yay I can just order from the dineout menu' and half the time you end up ordering from the regular menu anyway. Oh well.
We each chose a different dessert - this is a tiramisu with crème anglais. Jeff had the chocolate fondant, Mom had the crème brûlée, and Jimm had the rhubarb tart (which I have to say was probably my favourite, though mine was the prettiest).

01 May 10

Trash can tree. This photo is crap but the yard trimmings bin brings up something I am excited about: municipal compost! Finally!

30 April 10

bus stop trash
I walked home from Renfrew because the bus I got on that clearly said #10 Hastings decided it was actually a #16 and turned right on Renfrew. It was not too bad.
