21 July 10

Inside Chicago O'Hare, which was actually quite a nice airport. Though, we didn't have to check in there, which I imagine might make me like it less.
This concludes the vacation photos. If you're interested in viewing the full set, you can do so here.

Day 11: We went back to the Magic Kingdom for our last day, which was the first day I forgot to bring the camera. Later we got all dressed up and had dinner at California Grill in the Contemporary, which is expensive, delicious, and has an excellent view of the Magic Kingdom's fireworks display. This strawberry napoleon was one of the three desserts we tried.

Day 10: Epcot. It wasn't as hot (nor crowded), thank christ, so we were more ok with wandering around in the World Showcase. We did some shopping and met up with Alice's friend Lindsay, who managed to get us a table at Le Cellier - the steakhouse in the Canada section that normally has a 6-month-long waitlist for reservations. It was SO. FREAKING. GOOD.
these are my bros, chillin' in the fake Morocco, looking out at the fake Mexico.

Day 9: Hollywood Studios, on what was quite possibly the hottest day there ever was. In the morning Alice and I rode the Hollywood Towers drop ride, and we went to see the Beauty and the Beast stage adaptation, which was lovely. Later we took a boat to Boardwalk to eat at that brew pub for lunch, mostly so we could sit in the air conditioning away from small children for as long as propriety would allow. We did get to go on the Toy Story ride thanks to the magic of fastpasses, though.

17 July 10

Day 8: Magic Kingdom again, though we didn't get there until like two in the afternoon because we were so lazy. Also it was mega ridiculous kinds of hot so we basically just spent the time standing in as many air conditioned places as possible and taking turns with the mister fan when not possible. Later we went back to our resort for Mickey's Backyard Barbecue, which was the most lacklustre food we had on this trip, but it was worth it for the free beer and to watch all the little kids having the time of their lives dancing with the characters. After leaving the bbq my mom and I went for a drunken night swim in a pool that was basically like a warm bathtub.
This is my youngest brother Kenny, enjoying a post-ribs popsicle.

Day 7: we spent the morning and early afternoon doing laundry and waiting for the thunderstorm to gtfo, and then went to Downtown Disney. There was this big dinosaur thing and a lineup to get inside so we couldn't be buggered to find out what the deal was. Later we went to an Irish pub where I smashed both my knee and elbow on the way into the booth, but then I drank 4 kinds of beer so it was ok.

Day 6: Hollywood Studios, where we rode an amazing roller coaster, got caught in a thunderstorm, took a tour of the backlot, and ate one of the most amazing meals of my life at The Brown Derby.
This is one of the false building fronts on the streets they sometimes use as sets. I can't get enough of crumbling brick and other kinds of urban decay, whether real or false.

14 July 10

Day 5: no park admission this day, so we hung out at the pool and then went over to the Boardwalk Resort for dinner and fun times. We saw a sword swallower and bought too many baked goods, and ate dinner at a brew pub (the novelty of a brew pub in Disney World did not get old). This is my brother Travers, who is 17 and almost always looks great in photos.

Day 4: Epcot again. We walked around the World Showcase and had an absolutely incredible dinner at a Moroccan restaurant called Makkaresh.

Day 3: Animal Kingdom. I believe these skulls are from an okapi and a giraffe. It was so fucking hot humid this day that in the overcrowded park all set up to look like southeast Asia and India, I could imagine I was actually in Thailand or something.

11 July 10

Day 2: Magic Kingdom. I clearly did not ride these because I do not like vomiting, but I enjoy the lighting and colours in this.

10 July 10

Our first day at the parks; we went to Epcot. This was in an ocean-themed exhibit (obviously heavily influenced by Finding Nemo). I'll have a full set of photos from the trip up soon, so I'll post a link eventually.

09 July 10

The lamp hanging over the table in our cabin at Fort Wilderness. It's pretty amazing how sitting on a plane all day can make you so bloody exhausted.

08 July 10

I saw this on the Robson Street side of the Vancouver Public Library, while running around downtown like mad doing errands the day before leaving for Florida.

07 July 10

Packing for summer trips is so much easier. I basically just grabbed a stack of each type of clothing and it all fit in the case! Unfortunately I don't think this suitcase will survive another trip on a plane; it's cracking at the seams. I guess I'll have to join the 21st century and get myself a roller bag.

06 July 10

I went to Steph's after work to watch Hot Tub Time Machine, and she was kind enough to pick up a frozen pizza for us to share. The oven was supposed to be preheated to 500° which was pretty alarming, but when we took the pizza out, it looked and smelled delicious. Unfortunately, the middle of the pizza had melded to the baking pan and no amount of poking at it with a spatula would remove it. So we ended up with a ring of crust and a pile of toppings. Fucking jerk pizza.

Kaylie, my favourite little Yankee :) This was at her and Mal's housewarming/4th of July party, where we drank mojitos and weird blue drinks on the porch and ate red, white, and blue corn chips and raspberry cupcakes.

03 July 10

We hosted a wine and cheese/chocolate and port party. It was extremely delicious and good times were had. I also liked how most people decided to wear their fancy clothes. Lucas, who did not, felt left out until he borrowed some fancy clothes from Jeff!

This photo is actually from Saturday morning. Friday night Steph came over and we watched Six Feet Under and ate too much candy. It was great.

01 July 10

Canada Day. The weather was shitty and Jeff was at work, so to not fully waste my day I cleaned and did some rearranging of things. Jesse gave me this bookshelf he didn't want, so I set it up by the door with a bunch of stuff on top so that no one would start using it as a dumping ground for mail and things. I guess it does kind of look like a shrine.

It was interesting to visit this hotel after being in the real Manhattan. If you like, you can view the rest of my Las Vegas photos in the flickr album.

27 June 10

The new-ish City Centre on the Strip. It's ridiculously, unnecessarily huge, like many things in Vegas.

26 June 10

Outside the Venetian. I was trying to get close enough to read her tattoo. I think it's true that people can feel when someone's watching them; she turned around right as I took the photo.
