22 January 11

wispy
We had brunch at a roadside diner not too far from the ranch, and the drive through the mountains is always foggy and delightful. I managed to capture this out the front windshield. Afterwards we drove down to Seattle to meet Tony's cousin Dorothy and to buy kitchen knives, and then we had an absolutely amazing dinner at a Vietnamese/Thai restaurant before the symphony (Mozart's Requiem). I had never been to any symphony before that I can recall, so it was pretty mindblowing.

21 January 11

Bob's Burgers & Brew
Jeff and I headed down to Washington for the weekend, and we intended to have dinner at a brew pub called North Fork, but we got on the road so late that they would have been closed by the time we got there. Thus, we stopped just over the border in Sumas at Bob's, where we discovered (unfortunately after our first round) that they sell $1 Rolling Rock pints between 9 and 11. Totally worth enduring the horrible music/patrons.

20 January 11

snowy garden
I stayed home from work with a cold and when I woke up it was snowing! After a little bit though the rain had washed most of it away. Later I vacuumed and made carrot-ginger soup.

19 January 11

Fawkes
The other day when someone on the internet wanted to see my tattoo, I realised that I've had it for over five years and couldn't find a single decent photo of it healed.

17 January 11

things that are explosive
It was Iain's last night in town and he stayed at our place. Steph joined us for an evening of eating pizza and playing Apples to Apples.

15 January 11

hurrrcut
This is a really lame photo, but I used some of the money I got from my dad to get myself a haircut. It was exciting.

14 January 11

collarbones
After work I met with Jeff and Iain and Jesse to watch the Canucks/Capitals game at the pub. It was enjoyable and since it was an east coast game, it ended early enough that we decided to drink cheaper beer at Café Crêpe afterwards.

13 January 11

my dad
Jeff and I went for dinner at my dad's. It was delicious and full of good conversations. Also he gave me some dollars in lieu of a Christmas gift, a copy of Dirty Dancing on dvd, as well as a shirt I complimented him on last time I was over.

12 January 11

old cash register
This is at the place where I get waxed. Afterwards I met Iain and friends for karaoke at the Legion on Main. We got there early enough that no one bothered us at the door, but everyone else was really hassled about not having a membership. I think we may have to start invading the Old Admiral's karaoke night instead... the beer may be more expensive, but at least no one will ask us to pay $35 in order to drink there.

11 January 11

snow in the streetlight
It snowed a little. Only in the night time, though. By the morning it was mostly slush.

10 January 11

shampoo aisle
We are preparing for inventory at work. I spent a good chunk of the afternoon sorting and condensing the shampoo aisles in the fourth floor stockroom. Honestly, I even amaze myself with my organizational skills sometimes.

09 January 11

examining desserts
In the afternoon, I went downtown and wandered around a bit, and got some shoes that were half-price plus 30% off. Score! Then, Jeff picked me up and we went to The Eatery to meet Iain/Krystyna/Jesse/Terra for delicious sushi, and then we for some reason decided to get dessert at True Confections. Here Jeff is examining the cakes on display.

08 January 11

feet on the dash
Jeff and I spent the afternoon running errands, and then came home and made dinner and drank beer and watched the Canucks blow their winning streak.

07 January 11

bananas
In the evening time, Jeff and I ate sushi and drank beer and watched the hockey game and had a hot shower. Then Iain and Jesse came home drunk after winning a free round at the pub, and we hung out for a bit. This photo was taken in the morning and has nothing to do with any of that.

05 January 11

waiting
I stayed home sick from work and slept until noon. Jeff got home from work early and the cats followed him around the house. Here they are watching the door for him to come back after taking out the compost.

foggy sunrise

02 January 11

ice crystals
Jeff and I slept late and then went for lunch with Tony and his new lady friend, Joanne, at Bombay Bhel (seemingly the only restaurant in the Heights that was open). The food was delicious... Indian food is something I almost never crave or feel in the mood for, but once I start eating it it's so good. In the evening Jesse used my chili recipe to make dinner and we watched the hockey game.

01 January 11

shingles
First day of 2011. Nothing much happened, really... slept in, Jesse made pancakes, and after Jeff left for work I spent my evening watching trashy lesbian movies and eating candy.

31 December 10

harem pants
I tend to think that NYE is a total b.s. excuse for a holiday, and people are always trying to do the MOST FUN THING EVER and it ends up being a huge letdown, so the past couple years I've kept it pretty quiet and it has been enjoyable. Jeff and I just had some Cava and sat talking, and then other people came home and we talked to them too.

30 December 10

when I have a boring day, I photograph the cat
You can tell when I have a boring day, because I photograph the cat. He's more photogenic than I am.

29 December 10

it was really, really cold
I stayed home from work because of my wrist. In the evening Jeff and I braved the sub-zero temperatures and went to the Capilano Suspension Bridge to see it all lit up (my mom gave us free passes). We lasted less than an hour before I thought my feet might actually freeze and break off in little shards, so we left and warmed up with dinner at a pub.
A couple photos of the bridge can be viewed here.

28 December 10

shadow puppets
I came home early from work after realising my sore wrist had rendered me basically useless. I ate pizza by myself and watched a whole bunch of Boardwalk Empire.
