Aaron's sneaker and my boot outside the Copper Tank on Broadway, the second bar we went to while celebrating Steph's birthday. We kept Dennis company and talked to a chatty but nice girl who seemed to have been hit on and subsequently threatened by the douchiest guy in Vancouver - apparently he was all over her and then when she mentioned she had a boyfriend, he said, "I've beaten up bigger girls than you, you know." WHAT. THE SHIT.
I started my journey home around 12:30 and it was one of those wonderful times where you only have to wait a few minutes for the bus, which pulls up just as the skytrain is coming in, which arrives a minute before the bus home. No standing around wondering if it'd be worth it to just take a cab.

Jeff and I celebrated our anniversary with dinner at a newish place at Waterfront Station called Rogue. It was a lovely restaurant with pretty great (nothing creatively mindblowing, but thoroughly delicious) food and amazing sangria. Felisha works as a hostess there; I was surprised to see her when we walked in, and even more surprised when she gave us a free dessert because we were celebrating! Mmm, free pie...
It's difficult to resist taking standard tourist photos from viewpoints; I don't know how many times I've stood in this spot near Canada Place and still felt inspired to pull out my camera.

I spent the afternoon at Wreck Beach with the roommates and also Jen Hardwick, who is visiting from Ontario for the summer. It was extremely hot but the water was lovely. The coast guard showed up for some reason. Afterwards we went to Enigma for burgers and mojitos, because a day at the beach always leaves you hungry and exhausted.

I went to Spanish Banks with Tams, Val, and Sean, and Zoey (Sean and Val's dog). It is the only beach in Vancouver (I think) where you can have dogs off-leash, so it is basically awesome for anyone who likes the beach and also likes playing with puppies. Tamara and I both pretty much wanted to steal this lady's beautiful great Dane.

Malloreigh and Amanda, at the Perch for Mal's 25th birthday celebrations. Food, drinks, cake, and good times were had by all. A few more photos can be viewed here.

I was really overwhelmed on Saturday when I went to what I thought was a bbq at Britt's... and it was, but instead of the 10-20 people I was expecting, it was a fundraiser which had in attendance basically every lesbian in East Van. There were at least a hundred people, and there I am like an idiot with my homemade bean salad, frantically looking around for someone I know. I found Kaylie, thank fuck, and Malloreigh arrived not long afterwards. Apparently they weren't expecting it to be like that, either.
There were a few other people I knew, and I met some all right new people, but mostly I felt kind reclusive, and the mushrooms Britt gave us didn't help (though they did make me care less about how I looked lying on the front lawn staring at a tree). I suppose I'm not cut out for a full weekend of partying the way I was a few years ago.

Jeff and I spent the afternoon at Jericho Beach. It was kind of windy so I didn't really swim, but we both got in some reading time and I took a few photos. Then we went for beer and bison burgers at the sailing club, which was of course overpriced, but delicious.
This photo kind of makes me think of the Vancouver sucks/please don't move here video (which I cannot find otherwise I would post it), because I am half like FUCK YEAH I LIVE IN THE BEST CITY EVER and the other half is like omg we need like 1/3 of the people who live here to go to the Queen Charlottes or something so that maybe we can sometimes get a seat on the skytrain and find a place to live for under a million dollars.

Jeff and I went to Chris Waddell/Norm/Dave's housewarming in Coquitlam. It was surprisingly not obnoxious the way hanging out with Chris and Norm can generally be. There were a lot of pretty all right people, and delicious bbq and drinks to be had. Jeff's crazy ex-girlfriend (ok, one of them) showed up and that was kind of amusing; I'd never met her before and after talking to her for five minutes I could see that everything people said about her was completely true.
The house was quite nice, large with two kitchens and an impressive porch. Times like that you really see the differences between living in the city vs. the suburbs.
