It was the day of the fusion cookoff at Jeff Downer's house. Everything was delicious and I won! I made polenta with watercress & red onion salad in a whiskey-mustard dill dressing, topped with smoked tofu sautéed in Guinness. Our cookoff blog is now up to date, so please check it out if you are interested in the competitions, photos, and recipes :)

We had some coffee and read at the espresso cafe in Maple Falls, and then decided to take Chuckanut Drive from Bellingham to Mount Vernon. What a fantastic choice that was! It was gorgeous the whole way; I would love to do it again with more time to just stop and meander through a few of the little towns, and check out the coast a bit more.
I was reading The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo and was totally absorbed in it. I didn't even stop reading in the car when I started to feel moderately nauseous. When we got to Dorothy's, she saw the book in my hand and exclaimed loudly over it, and said she'd understand completely if I was a bit anti-social. Even at the symphony I was reading it during the intermission.
We drove home via the Peace Arch and got in around 1:30 - neither of us really relished another restless night's sleep at the trailer.

We stayed at the trailer in Washington on Friday night to make easier the drive to Seattle on Saturday. The dogs were so excited to see Jeff that it took him almost ten minutes just to be able to get his coat off.

Amanda and Tim came over for dinner, and Jeff and I cooked this vegan Cajun-style dinner: creole stuffed peppers, messy rice, and hot sauce-marinated grilled tempeh. For dessert, I made an apple crumble and Jeff made bourbon raisin ice cream, which was possibly the greatest ice cream I have ever tasted. Oh and we drank three bottles of wine.

It was Pi Day, and although my desire to eat pie at Angela's was strong, I didn't feel much like socialising. Jeff and I stayed home and watched Ratatouille which was truly delightful and appealed to the foodie in both of us, and the Disney child in me.
My succulents are growing. Perhaps it is time to move them from their crappy plastic IKEA pots.

We went to a pajama party at Ray's. I didn't know if it was supposed to be classy or regular style pajamas, so I just wore sweatpants and a camisole and hoodie; at least that way I wouldn't be cold. When I got there Ray and Chris were both wearing silk boxers and sock garters and smoking jackets, and their apartment was boiling as soon as it had more than four people in it, so in retrospect I should have gone with the satin romper. Oh well.

After work I had a wax appointment in Yaletown, so I messaged Jeff to see if he wanted to meet me afterwards for dinner. We had burgers and bourbon at Subeez and talked about travel and stuff.

Superskills! Probably the only time I will ever sit in the lower bowl. Also, I christened Tanner Glass's hairstyle 'the mullethawk'. Also also, the small children of hockey players are basically the best ever.
In the evening times, Jeff and I went to Mal & Kaylie's again, this time for Kaylie's going-away party :( We played some board games and drank beer and laughed with friends. I will most certainly miss her, and if she doesn't come back I will have to go to San Francisco and kick her in the pants.
26 February 11
New Mexican brunch at Mal & Kaylie's. It was Kaylie's last one before her 6-month trip to San Francisco, so it was a little bit sad. But no less delicious than usual.

I've been so busy at work that I actually had to make a to-do list so I didn't forget anything or feel too overwhelmed. My receiving folder usually only has one or two orders in it... lately it's been so full I can't even close it.
